To promote diversity and heighten understanding of Black heritage through an entertaining format.


Mission & Vision

We have a simple, but robust mission: to spread the awareness and education of black history in our community. We want to make a difference.

The Year of 2000, Bolingbrook Attorney Anita Kontoh Scott, Felix George Dupage Township Trustee and Bernard Winston founded the Black History Month Awareness Club. The not for-profit social organizationwas formed to coordinate and host an annual social event that raises awareness about the history ofBlack Americans. The event is held annually during Black History Month, and is geared to all residents in bolingbrook regardless of race and origin to assist in building bridges of tolerance and understanding.
